Music That Touches The Heart

Throughout this holiday season, I have listened and watched a lot of traditional material and as usual have been dismayed by all the consumerism and “same old-same old”. I wanted a gift for you that is unique, touching and thought-provoking. Last year I provided My Gift To You, that quoted an amazing John Donahue poem. How could I possibly top that? And then, by chance, I found some music that touches the heart. This just might be it!

While listening to Sheryl MacKay’s early morning weekend CBC Radio show North By Northwest, I heard the most interesting and touching song. After doing some research, I confirmed that it is just what I was looking for. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Music That Touches The Heart

The song is White Wine In The Sun by Tim Minchin. It got me thinking about members of my family that I will not see this season and I sent them a link. Their response to the song was similar to mine. The impact of climate, geographic and cultural differences left me realizing the one really important theme in this season is the importance of family.  It also got me wondering what it would be like to celebrate Christmas in the summer, since all of our metaphors relate to snow and winter.

I hope this season brings you peace, love and a recharge of creativity that will sweep you into 2019 with anticipation.
