My Gift To You – LowellAnn Fuglsang
A week from today many people in the world will celebrate Christmas Day with church, turkey and gifts. But many others are not part of this tradition, so I want to give something that everyone can appreciate. My gift to you is a poem that speaks to me in a very big way.
We have a lovely tradition in my choir community that meets weekly. After two hours of learning and practicing in the Gettin Higher Choir, we end the evening with a meditative toning. And in the silence that follows, one of our choir directors, Denis Donnelly often recites the last stanza of this poem beginning “May the nourishment of the earth”. It leaves us all with a sense of the value of harmony and community to take home.
My Gift to You
I give you this wonderful poem Blessing – by John O’Donohue with the hope that you find some peaceful inspiration in this season of reflection.
On the day when the weight deadens on your shoulders and you stumble, may the clay dance to balance you.
And when your eyes freeze behind the grey window and the ghost of loss gets in to you, may a flock of colours, indigo, red, green, and azure blue come to awaken in you a meadow of delight.
When the canvas frays in the currach of thought and a stain of ocean blackens beneath you, may there come across the waters a path of yellow moonlight to bring you safely home.
May the nourishment of the earth be yours, may the clarity of light be yours, may the fluency of the ocean be yours, may the protection of the ancestors be yours.
And so may a slow wind work these words of love around you, an invisible cloak to mind your life.

One support that I like to emphasize for them is the Google experience.
